The happiness of life is made up of minute fractions —the little soon forgotten charities of a kiss or smile, a kind look, a heartfelt compliment, and the countless infinitesimals of pleasurable and genial feeling.
As an adult, when you feel completely relaxed and safe, surrounded by people whom you like and trust, your natural tendency is to revert to being completely open and unafraid, spontaneous and expressive, imaginative & creative and fully absorbed. This is the ideal condition of the completely happy, fully functioning adult.
Money only magnifies who you really are. If you are a happy person, more money will make you happier. If you are unhappy person, more money will make you miserable.
For some people, their view of self and of the universe allows them to struggle for happiness-to yearn for happiness-“some time in the future”-perhaps next year-or the year after that. But not now. Not at this moment. Not here. Here and now is too terrifying close, too terrifyingly immediate. They suffer from happiness-anxiety.
